![]() Last two points: the pen slot works as intended, and remember that when the keyboard is flipped to use the surface in tablet mode the keyboard and its fragile materials are completely exposed. I have to detach the keyboard to get comfy in writing. The other downside is that when you flip the entire thing over the tablet to use the surface as a tablet, the connector on the bottom side of the tablet will interfere with your wrist and thus with the writing process, making it *really* annoying. Touching the app bar will inevitably touch the keyboard. If you prefer to use the keyboard in the “flattened” mode, the keyboard is all wobbly and totally unsatisfying to write on. The typing experience is actually surprisingly good, if you’re going to use the keyboard in the “lifted” mode. The keycaps do have a layer of rubber on them, and you know how things go with rubber. The palm rests are made out of alcantara, which I personally don’t like (but others do), and I know that time is unforgiving to this material. The underside is made out of some kind of cloth, which protects the entire tablet when closed but if it gets dirty, it’s hard to clean.
